How are you?
If you don't mind answering, what's your favorite book?
Do you like dnd? If so, favorite class?
If you could change the color of the sky what would you pick?
Hello, friend!
Overall, I am fine. I’m on winter break currently so I’m okay.
Of course I don’t mind! I don’t get a lot of asks and they’re usually nice.
I’ve read too much to have just one fave, and it’s spread out between genres, but I do have a soft spot for the Jaz Parks series. She is a CIA assassin who’s partner is a vampire and she kicks ass. I’ve read it quite a few times. I picked up the first in a used bookstore in California and quickly bought the rest. It’s what started my little library and I’m 100 books strong for it. Current favourite manga is Spy x Family with a similar introduction of stumbling upon it in a store and it’s main characters are a spy, an assassin, and a telepath playing a family together but they don’t know the others skills.
I don’t know a lot about DND to know if I’d play regularly or not, but it is intriguing when I see it. Some quiz I’ve done said I’d probably be some kind of ranger, but I can’t say I know too much about any of the classes. Druid and cleric are possible faves too.
Ooo… I think purple? If it acted as the blue does now then that would be cool
And you?
#Jaz parks#jennifer rardin#spy x family#tatsuya endo#dnd#dnd classes#ranger#druid#cleric#do you love the color of the sky#yes but purple could be a nice base too#me irl#asks#answered asks#send asks#y’all are fun and I will answer the best I can

DC x DP Fic idea: The Bakery is a Front!...right?
Danny Fenton starts his own business in Gotham. He knows that moving to Gotham is dangerous in a way, but it is the only other place with enough natural ectoplasm that can sustain him.
He wanted to move away from Amity Park to start on a clean slate. His parents now knew the truth, and to show their support, they were turning their research into a more sociological base instead of biological- I.E. ripped ghosts apart. Jaz got accepted into her dream college- Oxbridge. She moved overseas and is doing well in her advanced physiological courses. They told their parents of Dani, who promptly adopted her and signed her up for a traveling club under the condition she returned home for school.
The ghosts stopped challenging him after he explained Amity was his haunt and that it was bad manners to spar inside a haunt. He is open game in the ghost zone, but Danny got to choose when to go in there- his obsession requires him to defend something, so defending weaker ghosts in the Zone was a good option.
Danny always wanted to be an astronaut, but his teenage vigilante lifestyle ruined his chances- it isn't even his grades. It's a fact Danny's heart is so slow due to his ghost side it is mistaken as a heart condition. No space program would ever send him up with that. Danny decided that he would instead go with his second joy- baking. He opened Phantom Bakes in his second week in Gotham using funds from his Ghost King vault.
He served everyone and asked no questions. He was mostly sure half of his customers were gang members, but he didn't start anything and didn't allow any fights in his bakery. He became a sort of haven for everyone. He even began preparing packs for people experiencing homelessness, and bought the building next door to put some heating systems for anyone to sleep In during the winter.
Despite his obsession with protection, his human side made it possible for him to ignore it. He decided that his teenage years were spent too much giving in to his obsession and that in his twenties, he would retire. He did nothing while the various Bats threw themselves into battle, he turned a blind eye to petty crimes and basically tried not to bring any attention to himself.
He managed about six months until he accidentally walked through a cloud of fear gas while texting Sam and Tucker. His friends were tying the knot- the fact they all were best friends and exes was only slightly strange- and he was so focused on helping them plan the wedding as their Best Man he didn't hear the gasps, and horrified yells until he ran into Scarecrow.
He apologized for not looking where he was going and got a needle shoved unto his arm as a response. Danny's reflex to that was to punch the man a foot away from him.
The Bats quickly locked up the villain, and Danny decided he needed to be gone as fast as possible. He tried to return to his everyday life, but the next day, some of Scarecrow's goons showed up at his bakery asking him for work....so he hired them and taught them to make pastries. Then those goons brought over some friends who needed work but were recovering addicts and couldn't find employment.
He added coffee to his menu and threw them into that. Then some street kids asked if he would buy some stuff from them. Danny told them that he wasn't interested in car parts, but he was interested in furniture for the building next door. He had kids bringing in broken bookshelves, bed frames, and much more, paying them far more than the shady garages would.
Then some shady groups of men kept coming to his bakery asking for money for protection but Danny can protect himself just fine and proved it every single time a group made trouble.
He started having the streey kids make deliveries hoping to get them out of life of crime.
He made natural ectoplasm which, after much testing and research done by his parents, proved to clean out dangerous substances from the body. He made unique pastries that could help overcome addiction and heal withdraw.
He saw the light slowly return to the eyes of a drug-ridden community, and it brought him so much joy he barely charged for them.
Unknown to Danny, he has set himself as a up and coming villain. Rumors of his Fear Gas immunity attracted the attention of the Joker- who was found with all limbs broken, beaten black and blue after the clown tried to take a swing at Danny's employees. The baker had taken his broken body back to Arkharm, dragging the bleeding man through the streets uncaring of the line of red he left or the various people recording him in awed fear.
The rest of Gotham waited to see his true colors as he carefully built a front and gathered people. Some want to take him out as soon as possible.
Red Hood, most of all, after he heard that Danny had kids run special deliveries to know addicts. The only reason he hadn't blown his brains out was because Danny hadn't set himself up in crime alley.
The Bats had even talked him into joining an undercover mission to learn more about Danny. They didn't know what drugs he was moving or if he had a hand in other crimes, and needed more information that Oracle was unable to find.
She couldn't pull anything on Danny, driving her insane. (Techus erased Danny from the internet as a prank once and forgot to undo it.)
That led to Jason and Tim entering Phantom Bakes, acting like street kids who ran away from a homophobic father looking for a job.
Danny had them decorate cupcakes within the hour, letting them know he didn't expect them to crunch out masterpieces. They knew it would be a while to see Danny's real business so they bite thier tongues and got to work.
Tim just hopes they finish this mission before Jason snaps and shoots their main suspect....or before Danny romances the entire of Gotham because, goddammit, he has as much game as Brucie pretends to have. It's getting frustrating to see so many people throwing themselves at him, only for Danny to pretend not to notice. His good looks, charming personality, and carefully manipulated cover, drag good people into his schemes. He didn't want another Harley Quinn.
(He will ignore that his heart skips a beat whenever Danny gets too close. Thank you very much. It's just a crush; people get those all the time.)
(Part 2) (Part 3)
#DC x DP#dcxdp crossover#People think Danny is a villian#when in reality he is just vibing#his ghost side is alluring#Lowkey hes a siren#Jason wants his head in his dufflebag#Tim is 19#Danny is 21#the bakery is a front!...right?

DcxDp prompt
I want an au where the GIW did something when trying to recreate the Fenton portal, and upset the entire balance of the world. Their universe became so stabilized that very few people managed to survive, i.e. members of Amity Park had a 50-50 shots of surviving, Jaz, Danny, Tucker, Sam, Ellie and Valerie all survived, but were injured. Fix this and how’s the new souls, most of them were sent to be reborn with no memories of their past life in Gotham. However, Danny and his people stay in the zone for a while, each of them getting training from different people.(Danny, getting training for becoming the ancient of space, undergrowth, training, Sam, Tucker dealing with the whole reincarnation thing he went through the first time and figuring out his powers, Jaz training with the yeti and frostbite, as well as with a few other psychologists in the zone, Valerie, maybe going to train with Walker? IDK they just have some vibes to me. Allie definitely traveled throughout the entire zone and Indered herself to everyone.)
I don’t know why, maybe the zone needs them out, maybe they’re human needs are being hindered by the zone, but they have to leave the zone and go to the Gotham world, where almost everyone they knew has been reincarnated and does not know that or anything about them.
I want them to arrive in Gotham, and then find out that most of the people who they knew are either villains or heroes, with a few scattered people who are not technically involved, but are adjacent.
I want everyone who is reincarnated to meet these people and have a strange feeling of déjà vu and maybe maybe even treat them a little bit similar to how they were treated before. Like Vlad being reincarnated as Ra’s Al ghul, and when he sees Danny, he has the overwhelming urge to adopt him.
It’s even better if they all have their ages messed with for some reason, so now Jazz is 25, Val is 12, Sam and Tucker are 10-11, and Danny and Ellie are 3-5, bonus points if they are seen as the same age.
Idk but I think this is just neat
#dcxdp#dp x dc prompt#reincarnation#Vlad is Ra’s and still a creep#Can’t decide if I want Wes to be Bruce or Bernard or Tim#probably Tim#Dash could be Roy? not sure#will leave the rest up to you#de aged danny#de aged everyone

Chapter 2 : Oddities and Chills
[𝑴𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝑴𝒂𝒏𝒐𝒓, 6:38 𝑷𝑴, 𝑫𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒆-𝑪𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒄]
Dante was driving back home after dropping THEE BRUCE WAYNE off at the Wayne Manor which was coincidentally not too far away from the Masters Manor, Dante was humming as he drove home with a few bags of Toys that Danny and Dani will love... He slows down as he approaches the gates and slowly it opened, he shudders as he can imagine Jazz beating the living shit out of him but as long as he can see his two kids smiles he'll be fine. Dante parked his car in the garage and slowly heading towards the doors. As he opens the door with the bags He was greeted by his twins just happily seeing him.
"Daddy! Daddy!" Both Danny and Ellie said in unison as they jumped up to be carried by him, he puts down the bags and cooed on them both who were giggling and hugging him with their small hands. "My cutie Pies." He coos ignoring his sister who was holding the Phantom Creepstick with a smile and letting it bounce on her hand slowly, Dante chuckled slowly and handed the Amused Clockwork(Butler Disguise) the bags of Toys for the twins... "Please take them upstairs and let the twins play with them Clockwork..." Dante smiles nervously and Clockwork Nodded as he told the twins to follow him upstairs.
"Jaz—" Dan was cut off with a Bat to his gut, "UGHK—" He groaned In pain as he leaned further and kneeled on the wall. "I'm sor—" he tried to apologize but Jazz hit him again this time with a Sandal. "WE HAD EXPLICIT RULES!! EXPLICIT FUCKING RULESS!! DANTE!!" She kept hitting him with her sandal "YET YOU HOOK UP! WITH THE PLAYBOY BACHELOR NEXT DOOR?!" Jazz yelled "AH— IM SORRY IM SORRY HE WAS HOT OKAY??" Dante tried to reason but to no avail. Jazz huffed and stood back up in annoyance but she just crossed her arms. "This is so fun to watch." Paulina says as she sat on the couch and watched Dan get beat up whilst drinking milk boba tea.
"WHY IS SHE HERE??!" Dante yelled as he slowly stand up and dusting his suit.. "god this suit smells so much like him—" he kept sniffing his wrist and received a sandal thrown to his face. Paulina laughed, she was only there for girly girls night out stuff with Valerie and Jazz. "You look like a smitten loser Dan.." Valerie chuckled. "Please don't tell me you're Inlove or something—" She glared at Dante and he just smiled cheekily. Jazz sighed in defeat, "Valerie, HunnyBun, And Paulina, Let's go out yes? Girls night out." Jazz composes herself and smiles, she's wearing casual clothes and ready for a night out. "Star and Ember say they're totally coming." Paulina giggled and stood up from the couch and patting Dante's Chest, "Manboobs." Paulina laughed as she went outside.
"Please don't ever call my chest Manboobs ever again... God— that hurts so much— Jazz why—" Dante asks and just curled back up on the floor clutching his gut. "Cuz you fucked A WAYNE! THE MAIN FAMILY BACHELOR OF THE WAYNE!! ARE YOU INSANE?! SHOULD I PUT YOU IN ARKHAM?!" Jazz shook him and Valerie laughed as she calmed Jazz Down. "Calm down Hun, he might not make it until Vlad wakes up, let Vlad do the hitting once the old man wakes up." Jazz sighed at the statement and nodded. "You'll be spared for today. But only because my Girlfriend told me to. capiche?" Jazz drops him. "Can I court him then?" Dante asks shamelessly earning him another sandal to the face on the floor as he laid there. "I'll take that as a Yes!" And Jazz just groaned and Valerie laughing as she led her out.
"Clockwork how did you court my father?" Dante sat up slowly facing Clockwork. "I fought him a lot physically? I do not know how mortals court each other but I seduced your father through sparring." Dante just stared at him and combed his hair. "... Sparring?..." Dante asks hesitantly and Clockwork nodded. "Perhaps ask Ember McLain or that Revenant friend of yours back in crime alley." Clockwork suggests. "Maybe tommorow... Or later this night when the kids are sleeping. Where's Nocturn?" Dante asks as he took off his corset waist coat. "He's with the children playing with them." Clockwork says as he followed Dante. "And Vlad?" Dante sighs in exhaustion. "Still resting and asleep ofcourse." Clockwork answers...
Yeah, Dante would've guessed so. It's been 8 months since the Man's been asleep... When will Vlad wake up? When will his Dad Wake up? Dante shook his head to drown away the negative thoughts and took a deep breathe before going to playroom to play with his kids. Right now his priority is Jazz and the Kids... His precious family.
[𝑾𝒂𝒚𝒏𝒆 𝑴𝒂𝒏𝒐𝒓, 9:23 𝑷𝑴]
"Alfred, Father seems Constipated and... Out of touch with reality, is he possesed or...?" Damian motions his hands and slightly tilts his head in confusion. "Master Bruce is not Constipated but he is spacing out Master Damian, It seems that Master Bruce might have fallen for someone again." Alfred chuckled and Bruce just occasionally smirking then shaking his head trying to focus on his work and files. "Hmm.... Who is the person who has seduced my Father Alfred?" Damian whips his head and looked at Alfred who kept chuckling softly. "I heard from Master Bruce that the name of the Other Is Dante Jamie Masters, Master Damian." Alfred said softly, very pleased with Bruce's current state.
"I'll Tell Drake to do a background check on this... Dante." Damian fixes his clothes and walks out heading to the Batcave where Tim Basically Camps. "Drake." Damian says with a serious tone As he slowly walked towards Tim, "What do you want Demon Brat." Tim scowled. "Alfred has told me something Peculiar." Damian started and Tim looked at Damian Curiously and places his mug down. "And what's that?" Tim smirks.
"Father as Alfred Says has fallen... In love... In the early stages of being smitten with someone." Damian states and Tim looked back at the computer. "Name." He demanded
"Dante Jamie Masters. Look up everything about him." Damian demands and Tim complied only out of pure curiousity with a smirk plastered on his face. "Uhm what are you two doing... And why is there a silent truce here?" Dick Grayson asks behind them and Damian looks at him, "Father is in the process of being smitten with someone, specifically a Man." Damian states once again. "... Translation?" Dick asks and Tim sighs "What the Demon Spawn means is that Bruce is falling Inlove with Someone, that's also a man, which is new, since I mean... Selina and Talia— but yes." Tim states as both turned back to the screen.
"Wait wait wait? B? As in Playboy B persona? Or?" Dick asks again trying to process this information. "No. Not the persona this time. Like the actual Bruce. We'll check if he's a clone later." Tim states. "Dante Jamie Masters, Adopted by Vlad Masters when he was 7 years old... Odd the timelines match but there's something weird about it." Tim stared at the screen. "Some text are green. Like. Lazarus Gree—" Tim was cut off by the Burner Computer suddenly shutting down. "What—" Tim tried to power it on again but all it does is show a Lazarus Green Screen. "Alright what the fuck—" Tim was cut off again by Lines Typing itself on the screen and he raised his hands up.
"ץØย'я𝑒 Ø𝐍𝑒 Øⓕ 𝐓𝓱𝑒м.... ץØย'я𝑒 𝐍Ø𝐓 𝐚ᒪᒪØ𝔀𝑒𝓭 𝐓Ø 丂𝑒𝑒 卩𝐚丂𝐓 𝐍Ø𝔀."
"Drake this isn't a prank correct?" Damian squints and throws a glare at Tim and he denied and shook his head, "Uh No Demon Brat, this isn't my doing. Neither would it be steph, she'd make it "preppy" as that woman likes to call it." Tim rolls his eyes and the Computer's System quite literally burst. "Oh. What in the Technological Supernatural Shit just happene—" Tim AGAIN was cut off now by Dick Pulling the two away from the burner laptop and taking them upstairs, "nope. We don't deal with the supernatural kids. That's not our job, that's the JLD and I don't think I can deal with ghosts or something today, neither would I want an eldritch monster, good thing it's just technological right? Yeah yeah— but nope we're leaving that alone." Dick sputtered, "Unhand me Richard! This is utterly despicable and Unmannered of you!" Damian complained.
"Yeah! what the gremlin said!" Tim says as Dick finally let's them go as soon as he assured that they were far from the Batcave entrance. "I'm gonna Call B for that." Dick walked away. "Utterly despicable." Damian huffs as he fixed his hair and clothes again. "Ugh... My thermos is still down there... Whatever he says or asks do not tell him I'm back down there." Tim groans and stretches his slumped back up straight and heading back to the Batcave. Damian sighed in annoyance and checked a mirror if his hair was messed up but fortunately it was not.
Hopefully that Green Screen literally doesn't mess up anything other than Tim Drake's Burner Laptop. Maybe he'll inform Father later when he asks but until then he needs to finish his schoolwork. Damian heads back to his bedroom but felt a chill in his spine creeping. He whips his head around frantically for a moment before standing still hearing for any movements. He didn't hear anything else but a slight paranoia catching up to him as he enters his bedroom and locks the door firmly.
What was that chill? Please let it just be the wind and not something.. supernatural. Dami wouldn't like to be involved in something such as the Unnatural Line Between Life and Death just like the Lazarus Pits. He doesn't want to be involved for now. His gut feeling is telling him not to get involved.

chapter six
and if you ask me to, daddy’s gonna buy you a mockingbird, i’ma give you the world
author: writing this had me sobbing a few times and i truly hope you'll love it as much as i do. let's keep in mind that this is a work of fiction, and that i do not know nor am associated (unfortunately) to any of the real people mentioned here. tw: massive fluff, description of anxiety, angst
word count: 7.758k words
It wasn’t a long drive to the estate, but the portion of time you spent in your car parked out front was longer than what you had planned - lost in your thoughts, you made an effort to gather a bit more of the courage you knew you still had in your core to now face the most significant person in this whole chaos: your daughter, the love of your life. You knew Lily would eventually bring up so many questions that your only hope was that she’d wait for Mason to be around, but knowing her all too well, her focus would be entirely on meeting her dad; you could already see the twinkle in her eyes, the impatience hovering over her making that little human pace relentlessly whenever she had to wait for things to happen when they should and not on her time - which was nothing like you, because you considered yourself fairly patient. So that was another thing she probably got from Mason.
With another sigh parting your lips, you eventually made your way to the big house - only to be welcomed by your mum’s frantic screams that Christmas was ruined, by your dad’s hopeless and anguished glance, and a pair of tiny arms that made your entire world stop because nothing else mattered. Lily held you tight like you’d been away for years and not for just a few hours. “I missed you, mummy. Abuelita is angry,” she pouted, her big hazel eyes gleaming with tears she seemed to be containing for a while now.
“Oh baby,” you cooed. “What happened?”
Lily carefully explained the same way she heard: there was a big snowstorm and pretty much every family member that was expected to join them for Christmas wouldn’t be able to make it. So far, it was just the four of you, Emma (your cousin, daughter of your father’s brother), and her two children, Louis and Oscar, the 8-year-old twins. Inevitably, your thoughts went straight to Mason and how having him there would be perfect. Not the way your mum truly wanted, but it’d make Lily happy and whatever made your daughter happy, also made your parents happy.
Back in Surrey, Mason quickly typed you a message after declining two of your calls.
Watching half of his family still in shock with the news he just dropped could be amusing if it wasn’t something so serious - although Mason was sure that, at some point in life, they’d all have a good laugh about it. His sister’s soft hand squeezing his shoulder felt reassuring, but Mason could still feel his heart pounding against his chest and the silence filling his large living room was the scariest sound he had ever heard. Lewis was the first one to break it with a sigh, and Mason could only hope he’d say something funny to break the tension, but it didn’t happen - at least not yet.
“Are you sure she’s yours?” Lewis questioned and Mason scanned his dad’s face starting to turn red, the veins in his forehead throbbing under Lew’s question.
Before Mason could answer, Jaz took a step forward and went big sister mode just like he expected she would. “Let’s not rule out a DNA test, but you’ve all met this little girl before.” The confused look on their faces swapped back to shock once Jasmine showed them Lily’s picture - Debbie had tears in her eyes and glanced at Mason, desperately waiting for him to say something, but the truth was he was never the one to hide this from them.
“I know it’s a shock to all of you, as it is for me too,” Mason began, swallowing a sob before he could start weeping the way he did this morning. “But I need you all with me in this because everything I’ll do from now on is for her, it’s not about me. I need you all to make this about her as well.” It seemed like those words were all his mum needed to ultimately allow those insisting tears to roll down her cheeks and search for her husband’s hand, who softly squeezed it, giving her the comfort she needed that everything would be just fine in the end. “This is far from how I expected it’d be,” Mason added. “But I can’t say that I’m not happy. I truly can’t wait to be with her and be the father she deserves.”
As Mason nervously rubbed his hands on his jeans, trying to control how sweaty and shaky they were, he observed his dad end the short distance between them and pull him into a hug. He didn’t need words from Tony to know his dad was proud of how he was handling the situation, and whatever damage control they’d eventually have to do would be properly taken care of. But, at this moment, it was all about her. It was about making sure that Lily would have everything she always wished for, and deserved.
Mason knew it would be the biggest challenge of his life, he didn’t have 9 months to prepare himself nor to understand how it was to be a father. What if he wasn’t able to love her unconditionally, or to be everything she expected he’d be? What if he ended up being the worst dad he could possibly be? His only hope was in what his father himself represented - Tony taught him to be a good man, to fight for his family, and to be honest and decent.
Mason’s life wasn’t his own anymore, and that frightened him to the core, but he also felt prepared to fully embrace all the changes that’d come with it because deep down, he knew it’d be worth it.
While Jasmine distracted his parents and brother with pictures and the few stories and details she knew about, Mason hurried to call you back. While he waited for you to pick up, he thought how odd something so simple also felt so intimate - calling you, someone he thought about from time to time, to talk about the life you two shared. A beautiful little girl, whom he couldn’t wait to meet.
“Hello?” you breathed on the other side of the phone, trying to concentrate on the call and on Lily jumping on your bed after having a large cup of cocoa with marshmallows. “Lilian Maisie, I swear to God that if you vomit on this bed…”
Mason couldn’t hold back a laugh, but he also felt his chest clenching a bit with the sudden urge to be there. “Hi, it’s me. Mason.”
“Mase, hi!” he grinned at the nickname, loving how it sounded coming from you. “I tried to call you before.”
“I know, I was with my family. I told them about Lily.”
“Oh? How did it go?”
During most of the talk, you felt yourself going a bit dizzy from holding your breath. It was almost like you were waiting for something bad to happen like you were ready to protect your daughter from everything and everyone, but his family’s reaction was expected and you couldn’t really imagine what they were going through, but you felt deeply sorry and embarrassed to be the one causing it - muttering “I’m so sorry, Mason” during the phone call was the least you could do, and although it was sweet of him, the fact that Mason kept telling you to stop apologising didn’t make things easier. You knew you’d have to work hard to fix things, and that as long as it wouldn’t affect her routine, it was their right to have a free pass to your daughter’s life whenever they wanted.
“Did you tell her?” Mason asked, chewing the inside of his cheeks as he anxiously waited for an answer.
“No,” you heard him sigh. “But only because I wanted to ask you something first.” Mason softly hummed, waiting for you to continue. “Would you like to spend Christmas with your daughter, Mase? Bring your family too, or don’t, I dunno. But they’re all more than welco-”
“Yes, I’d very much like to spend Christmas with her,” Mason interrupted. “With you two.”
Insane was the only word you and Mason could find to address this entire situation, it was all happening so fast that you two shared something in common: fear. Of not giving everyone time to process the news, of dropping this on Lily’s shoulders, and, somehow, causing more damage than good. For Lily, it wouldn’t be just meeting her dad, as he was also her best friend’s uncle - no matter how mature she seemed to be, Lily was still just a child and you and Mason feared her reaction. He was particularly terrified of not being good enough, that she’d be disappointed when she found out he’s her dad but you repeatedly told him that Lily loved him unconditionally.
He couldn’t deny that he was a bit disappointed to be going alone, but it made sense that his family decided to stay behind, saying that this moment was private. In a quick phone call with Jaz, she promised they were considering joining your family for Boxing Day and that they all appreciated the invitation - Jaz mentioned how her mum’s emotions were everywhere, wanting to know everything she possibly could about her granddaughter, so you kindly sent a few pictures and videos of Lily growing up.
While the kids were playing, you took the opportunity to let your parents know about your decision to invite Mason, which seemed to make your mum quite happy. You also had to update Emma, who had always been one of the most discreet and private members of the family; she pulled you into a hug and said you could count on her for anything and, between giggles, that she’d do her best to control her twins who were obsessed about football just like any other boys their age. Although overwhelming, it also felt like a relief to be able to finally tell people about Lily’s dad.
You were finally alone with Lily in her room, braiding her hair the way she liked, as she moved unquietly on the chair placed in front of the mirror. “Peanut, sit still please,” you hummed, a frustrated moan parting your lips seeing your request was pointless.
“But I want to know what the surprise is!” Lily pouted, little arms crossed against her chest.
“It won’t be a surprise anymore if I tell you,” you winked, not letting her see how amused you were when she huffed and finally sat still.
Always independent and self-sufficient, Lily politely dismissed your help when she went to pick an outfit. You instructed her to go for something warm, and even if she seemed a bit confused with the tights, she managed to do it all on her own, which brought you both comfort and nostalgia to see her growing up so fast. Until weeks ago, when Jasmine walked into your lives, it was just the two of you against the world and although you believed it to be enough, of course, there was always something missing and not just for her - you missed it too, having someone to share the wonders of the things she did that were so little to some, but so meaningful to you; and you knew that no one could fill that gap better than Lily’s father.
As he drove to your place, Mason pictured all different scenarios of him meeting Lily. His heart pounded in his chest, each beat echoing the mixture of excitement and fear that coursed through him - Mason rehearsed the moment countless times in his mind since he found himself alone, yet he also knew that nothing could truly prepare him for it. As the GPS showed he was getting closer and closer to the estate, a whirlwind of emotions overwhelmed him.
His mind raced with questions. Would she really like him, like you said? Would she be scared? Could he truly be the father she deserved? Mason felt his chest filling with both hope and dread. The weight of all those years, unaware there was a little yet huge piece of him out in the world, pressed down on him - the years he had missed, the milestones he hadn’t been there for. Mason couldn’t let a grudge take over him, there was no point now.
He took a deep breath, trying to steady his nerves once he spotted the large gate in front of him. Definitely, no one could ever say it was for the money, he thought, eyes curiously scanning the manor behind the gates - Mason didn’t have to announce his arrival, as he watched it slowly open for him. Not far away, he could spot your figure, standing outside the white door. You seemed as nervous as he was.
As Mason parked his car between a brand new black Range Rover and a racing green Aston Martin Valour he recognised as being limited edition, Mason felt the palms of his hands sweat even more. This wasn’t his usual habitat, none of his friends nor acquaintances were this wealthy. Part of him felt uncomfortable, but the other was relieved to know you were the opposite he’d expect someone this wealthy to be - he instantly assumed your family was as lovely as you.
When your eyes finally met his, you caught him wiping his hands on his jeans. You two could hear the loud waves of laughter of children coming from inside the house, filling the silence between you but Mason felt disconnected, focused solely on meeting his daughter. He finally stood tall in front of you, cheeks pink from the cold but he looked as gorgeous as ever - Mason seemed to relax a bit under your touch when you squeezed his shoulder. “It’s going to be okay, Mason,” you said softly. “We’ll do it together and it’s going to be okay, she’s the sweetest girl.”
Mason let out a heavy breath, the smell of mint and the warmth coming from him made you feel slightly dizzy, but you quickly put yourself together. “I just don’t want to scare her,” he admitted, his voice trembling slightly. You felt sorry for him. “I want this to be perfect.”
You smile warmly. “Just be yourself. She’s naturally a curious little girl and knows I’ve planned a surprise for her, but you’re her biggest dream and everything she always wanted,” you said. “Besides a dog. She desperately wants a dog.”
The way the corners of his eyes wrinkled when he laughed was adorable and you could swear your heart skipped a beat. “Thank you, Y/n. For everything so far. I know this hasn’t been easy for you.”
“It’s been a journey,” you acknowledged, a soft smile curling the sides of your lips as you felt your cheeks flush pink by the sudden touch of his skin on yours - Mason held your pinky with his, his eyes never leaving yours. “But Lily deserves to know her father, and you deserve to know your daughter. This is the right thing.” Mason nodded, and your eyes fell to your pinkies intertwined. “Shall we?”
Mason’s breath caught in his throat as you guided him inside the manor, and he loved that despite all the wealth, it felt like home - the warmth, the laughs, and the smell of freshly baked biscuits soothed his nerves. He carefully scanned every little detail as you guided him upstairs, then down a hallway adorned with family photos and children’s artwork. You stopped in front of a door decorated with colourful stickers spelling out ‘Lilian’.
“Can you wait inside as I go get her?” Mason nodded and walked into the bedroom after you opened the door for him. “I’ll be back with her in a minute.”
When you left, Mason found himself not knowing what to do, again. His eyes quickly scanned his daughter’s bedroom - it was smaller than he expected, it had a fantastic garden view, and walls painted in baby yellow and white. There were lots of books, a wall full of artwork, ballet stuff, and, last but not least, a football - which made him smile warmly as his chest filled with pride.
“Am I getting my surprise now, mummy?” He heard his sweet voice and Mason swallowed a sob, trying not to look like a creep standing behind that door.
“Mhmm, you can say so. I truly believe you’ll love it, angel.” You replied and he smiled at how sweet you sounded talking to her. “I won’t ask you to close your eyes because I know you won’t,” his daughter replied with a giggle, that made him want to burst into tears.
As the door slowly opened, Mason fully embraced the moment when his life wasn’t just his anymore. There she was, his little girl, looking at him with hazel eyes filled with curiosity - Mason felt like he was looking at himself. She had light brown hair that fell in loose curls around her face. The moment Mason saw her, time seemed to stand still. His heart skipped a beat, and he felt a surge of emotions he had never experienced before. There was an intense mixture of love, joy, and an almost unbearable ache. The sight of her, so small and innocent, with features that mirrored his own, hit him with a profound sense of connection and loss for the time they had spent apart. His breath caught in his throat, and his eyes welled up with tears.
Mason realised in that instant just how much he had missed, and how much he wanted to be part of her life. The room seemed to blur around him, and all he could focus on was Lily. His daughter. The word felt both foreign and incredibly right. He was overwhelmed by the desire to protect her, to know her, and to make up for lost time.
“Hello Lily,” Mason said softly, crouching down to her level as you guided her to him. “Remember me?”
Lily nodded. “Is Summer my surprise?” She sounded both excited and confused as she studied him with cautious interest, her mind racing as she tried to understand why her best friend’s uncle was there.
He smiled and shook his head, trying to steady his nerves, eyes looking up searching for yours in a silent ask for help.
“No, baby,” you cooed, “Mason is your surprise.”
Lily’s eyes lit up with interest, head tilted to the side. “Why?”
“Because you’re Maisie and Mason,” he watched you crouching down next to her, your hand softly caressing her back as her full attention was still on him. “Remember all those nights you asked the stars to bring your daddy to you?”
Mason swallowed the lump in his throat, his eyes burning with tears - he couldn’t cry now, he didn’t want Lily to see him crying, but he felt so overwhelmed by knowing how much she wanted him. The thought of that precious little girl wishing for her dad every night was one of the most painful he ever experienced, and in that moment Mason silently promised he’d never let her go through that again.
When your words finally hit her, Lily’s jaw slightly dropped and her eyes searched for yours, but quickly went back to Mason - he noticed how her little eyes teared up and she pouted, clearly experiencing a mixture of emotions that were a bit too much for her.
“You’re my daddy?” She sniffed, her voice barely above a whisper, still trying to process what was unfolding before her.
“Oh, sweetheart,” Mason finally allowed tears to stream down his face as he nodded. “Yes, I’m your daddy.”
For a moment that felt like forever, Lily was silent, and Mason couldn’t ignore how you silently reassured her that it was fine to feel everything she was feeling, validating it, by either squeezing her shoulder or running your fingers through her hair. Then, with a sudden burst of emotion, Lily threw her tiny arms around his neck, hugging him tightly. Mason felt a surge of warmth and love as he hugged her back, his heart overflowing. “I always wanted a daddy,” she said softly.
You didn’t know how you managed to hold your tears until now, but seeing the wide smile on his face and how Mason sighed in relief, you just couldn’t hold them back any longer. You muffled a sob by covering your mouth with your hand, and the way Mason’s hand searched for yours while not letting Lily go filled your heart with love.
He held her close, his voice choked with emotion. “And I always wanted you, Lily. I’m so happy I found you.”
Mason knew this was just the beginning, but he felt ready to face whatever came next with his daughter, and you, by his side. Lily pulled back slightly, her small hands cupping his face, making Mason giggle. Her eyes sparkled with excitement as she curiously scanned his face.
“Summer is my cousin,” she said, a wide smile on her lips when Mason nodded. “Does she know?”
“Not yet,” Mason replied, “But we can tell her together and I’m sure she’ll be really happy.”
As if her thoughts and what was happening were still sinking in, Lily suddenly threw herself back in Mason’s arms, hiding her face in the crook of his neck to muffle her cry - even so, not once did Mason let go of your hand, which was the reassurance you needed to know that things would be alright and that you two would do it together, because you were a family now. You two were everything Lily needed.
“You’re the best Christmas present in the world, Masey,” a slight disappointment coursed down his spine when Lily called him by his nickname, but he’d never rush her to call him ‘dad’. “I-I mean, da-“
“It’s alright, bubba,” Mason interrupted her, softly kissing her forehead when Lily pulled back again. “You can call me whatever makes you feel comfortable, yeah?”
She silently nodded, smiling at him when he wiped her tears. You felt your heart skip a beat at the gesture.
“Do you want to see the drawings I did today?” she asked, small hands reaching his. Lily smiled again when she noticed he was still holding yours.
Mason smiled back, his heart feeling lighter than it had in years. “I’d love to, sweetheart.”
You gently squeezed his hand, letting it go before Lily led him to her drawing table, where colourful sketches of flowers, animals, and fantastical scenes covered the surface. Lily picked one of her favourites, a vibrant drawing of a butterfly garden, and handed it to him. Mason took the drawing, marvelling at the details and creativity - she really was everything you’d told him, and seeing that by himself filled him with pride. Lily was part of him, she was also his, and he could barely believe that he managed to do that when he often doubted he could do something good, something beyond special.
“This is one of my best,” she said proudly.
“I love the colours you used,” he said, showing interest, which made her eyes sparkle. “You’re the most talented artist.
Lily beamed at the praise, making you chuckle. “Can we draw together sometime, Masey? And play football too?”
“I’d like that very much,” Mason replied, crouching down her level again, holding her hands. “We can do everything you want.”
You watched your daughter narrow his eyes at him as a cheeky smile curled the sides of her lips. “Can we go get a dog now?”
“Lilian Maisie!” you scolded her but couldn’t hold back the happiness that bubbled up inside you and ended up letting a loud laugh part your lips. The way the three of you laughed, filling the room with so much joy and peace made you feel lighter.
Mason leaned forward to gently kiss her forehead again and wrapped his arms around her small figure, lifting her in the air as she squealed between giggles. “Let’s stick to football and drawing, yeah?”
Lily nodded in approval and kissed his cheeks. He was her daddy and he was a lot more than she ever dreamed of; the fact that he was also her best friend’s uncle, which made Summer her cousin, was something Lily still couldn’t believe - she wanted to scream, to see her bestie as soon as possible, hug her and never let her go. There was so much happiness inside her chest that it brought tears back to her eyes, and as she silently watched Mason with what felt like a permanent frown, Lily felt hot tears wet her cheeks again.
“Are you staying forever?” she sniffed, cupping his face with her small hands again.
Mason nodded, wiping her tears with gentle kisses. “Forever, bubba. I’m never leaving you,” he whispered against her skin, and you had to sit on her bed as you felt your legs weaken at how wholesome that moment was.
“Do you promise?” Lily insisted.
“I promise.”
The three of you spent the next hours drawing and chatting, with Lily sharing stories about her favourite things - she proudly told her daddy about being very good at football and was particularly happy when he told her that he was there for the ballet recital. Mason listened intently, soaking in every little detail, every laugh, and every smile. She was indeed the sweetest girl, and as he reached again for your hand - his pinky intertwined with yours - Mason felt a sense of peace and fulfilment that he had never known before.
As the evening drew to a close, and Mason had memorised pretty much every inch of his daughter’s face and how incredible she was, a knock on the door brought the three of you back to Earth. With the kindest smile on her face and pride in her eyes, your mum’s face beamed with happiness as she watched Lily glued to her father.
“Hi,” her voice was soft, and kind, and Mason felt oddly comfortable for a first meeting. “I’m so sorry to interrupt, but we’re all starting to get ready for Christmas dinner.”
You noticed Mason was slightly confused since it was still the 24th, but you patiently explained that you always had two celebrations: one on the 24th because it was part of your mum’s culture and your dad didn’t want to change it for her, which Mason thought it was quite romantic of him; and the other on the 25th. He liked how you all seemed to be pretty close and supportive, how your mum was very discreet and talked to him like it wasn’t the first time they were seeing each other - she treated him like family, just like you told him before.
Even so, Mason stood up still holding Lily in his arms, and walked towards your mum. “Hi ma’am, I’m Mason,” he smiled politely and the way your mum sighed in delight made you want to run away and hide. “It’s lovely to meet you.”
“He’s my daddy, abuelita,” Lily said proudly, making you all chuckle.
“Is he really, amor?” your mum winked at her. “It’s wonderful to finally meet you, Mason. We settled the guest room for you.”
“Thank you for your kindness,” your mum nodded at his words with a gentle smile on her lips and, after blowing a kiss to your daughter, left.
The hardest task was convincing Lily to let Mason go but he was so gentle and so patient that she didn’t argue when he offered her choices - he definitely understood how tantrums worked, but also understood how much she wanted to spend every second of every minute with him after years of not having him. Together, the three of you went downstairs so Mason could pick up his small luggage as you waited inside and Lily watched him through the window.
“Are you happy, baby?” you asked, running your fingers down her hair.
Lily nodded. “So much, mummy. This is the best Christmas ever!”
She was naturally a happy little girl, but you couldn’t remember seeing her this happy - you also couldn’t shake the feeling that such happiness could’ve come much earlier if you’d searched for him before. The way Mason smiled at her as he made his way back to the house was the sweetest in the world, and before he could even open the door, Lily stormed out to welcome him back. You guided him to the guest room, which was between yours and Lily’s, and Mason awkwardly kissed your cheek before you separated and it was just you and Lily again.
“What is it?” you asked, watching your daughter grinning at you.
“He kissed you, mummy!” Lily whispered between giggles like she was sharing a silly secret. You felt your cheeks burn under her comment but didn’t reply or she’d turn it into an endless teasing.
“Let’s focus on what you’ll wear, yeah?”
Lily nodded. “Can we match outfits, mummy?”
“I suppose we can, peanut.”
The way Lily was focusing a lot more on what you were wearing rather than focusing on herself wasn’t suspicious considering you knew your daughter all too well, Lily was always up to something when she hyper-focused on one thing and made that thing her little project - still, you wouldn’t ruin this for her and allowed her to do whatever she wanted, so that’s how you two ended wearing matching white knit sweaters, black tights and tweed skirts. It was both adorable and funny, but the cherry on top was Mason wearing pretty much the same colours as you, except his sweater had some pretty details in navy blue - he seemed amused by it as there was a permanent grin on his lips as the three of you went downstairs to meet the rest of your family.
You noticed a slight change in his posture when the sound of your father’s voice reached you, so this time it was your turn to hold his pinky as a gesture that it’d be just fine and he had nothing to worry about. Mason seemed surprised by it but also seemed to relax, offering you a warm smile in return, a smile that made your heart beat slightly faster. Before walking into the living room, you let go of him, which got Mason more upset than he expected but he shook it off.
“There you are!” cheered your father, his arms wide open as he ran past you and went straight to Mason. “I was wondering when I’d see you, lad.”
The older man’s sympathy caught him a bit off guard in the most positive way as two main things could make him dislike Mason: getting his daughter pregnant and being a Chelsea player, but still, there he was treating him as if they were longtime buddies. You let go of the fact that your dad pretty much ignored your presence, knowing that there was a chance that he was slightly starstruck that Mason was in his living room. You grinned when Mason glanced at you - a playful smirk curling his lips - before your dad put his arm over Mason’s shoulder and guided him to his collection of overpriced whisky. They were followed by your cousin’s twins, who couldn’t believe that THE Mason Mount was there.
It was just you, your mum, and Emma now, and noticing how Lily seemed a bit upset that her father was the centre of all the attention, you decided to do a FaceTime call with Willow and Jaz. Lily was the one to tell her auntie Willow that her daddy was there with them, that he was staying forever, and that she’d convince him to get her a dog - something you protested again, but asked yourself for how long you’d be able to avoid another addition to the family and one more responsibility on your hands. You promised Willie to keep her updated and that they could meet for a girls’ night once you were back in London, something she was more than happy about, and promised she’d have a very fun schedule for both of you so you could take a break from all the recent stress that surrounded you.
The next one was Jasmine, who answered faster than you expected, which made you giggle as she seemed overly excited to know everything saying Mason hadn’t told her with all the details she wanted. “We’ll have to meet when I’m back in London so I can give you the detailed version,” you said, watching her roll her eyes at you on the other side of the screen.
“You two are the perfect match, no surprise you have a daughter together,” Jaz teased, making your cheeks blush. “Did he cry?”
“He’d cry even if he was a robot, Jaz. It was a very touching moment,” you admitted and she gave you a warm smile. “I’m happy with how well it went, Lily is having the time of her life although right now she’s a bit upset by my dad monopolising him.”
Jasmine let out a cheerful laugh. “He was so nervous to meet your dad,” she confessed. “I’m so happy it went well, Y/n. It’s so important for Lily that he’s there for her.”
You nodded, chewing your lower lip, trying your best not to cry again. “How did your family react, though?”
“Oh well, they still can’t really believe it. I think my mum is still in shock, she keeps saying that she should’ve known when they met, like some sort of grandmother's sixth sense,” you felt your chest clench a bit, knowing it was you who caused this.
“It’s not her fault,” you mumbled, watching Jaz nod. “Is she there now? Do you guys want to see Lily?”
Jaz opened a wide and sweet smile for you and moved her phone just a bit, Debbie was sitting right next to her, with Summer on her lap. Your cheeks blushed at how emotional she seemed to be and you just wanted to hug her and apologise for all the mess you made and for taking five years of her life with Lily, but you’d do it in person.
“Hi auntie Y/n,” Summer said, waving at you.
“Oh sweetie, hello. Someone here wants to see you,” you walked towards Lily, who was sitting on the floor drawing something. Her face lit up when she saw her best friend’s face on the screen.
“Sumi!” Lily tried to take the phone from your hand but you gently pulled away, afraid she’d let slip something that was meant to be told in person. She pouted a little but seemed to understand the message. “I have so much to tell you!”
Amused by your daughter’s excitement, Summer giggled. “I miss you, Lili,” the little girl said, and you noticed how their interaction made Debbie emotional.
You discreetly pointed at Debbie so your daughter would acknowledge her too but you noticed how her cheeks blushed, and she seemed relieved that Debbie took the first step and asked her if she was having fun. Lily showed the drawing she was finishing shortly before the call.
“This is me in the middle, my mummy and my daddy. Now that I know him I can paint his hair colour,” you melted at how she explained every detail. “This is Mr. Peanut, the dog my daddy will give me when we can convince mummy.”
You narrowed at her but she just giggled, followed by Mason right behind you - the way he just stood there watching Lily was the sweetest, a warm smile on his lips. ‘It’s your mum’ you mumbled to him, and you noticed how happy that information made him feel because his smile doubled the size. Right behind him, your dad smiled proudly at you and blew you a kiss. Lily said goodbye to her and ran straight to Mason, while you talked to Jaz for a few more minutes while he and your dad entertained the little one. Shortly after you said goodbye to her and Debbie, you heard Lily slightly upset about her interaction with the latter.
“Do you think she’s upset I didn’t call her grandma?”
Mason shook his head and leaned a bit to kiss the tip of her nose, making her giggle. “Never,” he assured her. “Don’t worry about that bubba. Take your time, yeah? There’s no need to rush.”
Noticing this was a father and daughter moment, your dad walked away and linked his arm to yours, guiding you to where your mum and cousin were while Mason walked with Lily in his arms to see the Christmas lights that decorated the garden, through the window. They were so comfortable with each other that it felt like this wasn’t even their first day together.
Your mum welcomed you with a glass of white wine - she seemed much calmer now even if pretty much the whole family didn’t make it due to the snowstorm.
“Family is family, there’s lots of them missing but what we have tonight is perfect,” she pointed at Lily and Mason. “I’ve never said this to you, but that’s what I’ve been longing to see. My granddaughter with her father.”
“I think he’ll be a great one,” your father added, sipping his whisky. “You can see that he’s trying, the least we can do is to make him feel comfortable.”
Their support, from the very beginning, was one of the things that made you stronger whenever you had to face the challenges of motherhood - your parents were never there to spoil you nor treat you like some sort of victim but rather made you see all the options you had and each of the consequences that followed according to whatever choice you decided to make.
Completely taken by your emotions, you threw yourself in your dad’s arms and your mum joined for a family hug. Being an only child had never been a problem when your parents were so present, despite such busy lives they had. They never missed the most important moments of your life and were always there whenever you needed them. Those two were your best friends.
For the rest of the evening, all of you enjoyed proper family time with games, stories shared between laughs and fantastic food cooked by your mum - she always dismissed the staff so they could spend the holidays with their families and the food was entirely her responsibility. She blushed when Mason said it was one of the best he ever had, and you knew he wasn’t just trying to find a way to her heart. He actually meant it.
“Mummy,” you felt Lily softly poke your ribs, seeming a bit shy to say what was on her mind. You offered her a kind smile in return. “Do you think there’s still time to rewrite my letter to Santa?”
You frowned. “Why, baby?”
“I’ve changed my mind. I think I can wait for the ice skates, I want to ask Santa for my dad to still be here in the morning.”
That was when your heart broke into a million pieces. “Oh baby,” you cooed, pulling a string of hair from her face, and took her in your arms, sitting on the same armchair where you first spoke to her while still pregnant. “He’s not leaving”.
“I just want to make sure, mummy…”
“I know, we’ll write if that’s what you want,” you quickly replied, not wanting to invalidate her feelings. “You know when you were still in my tummy and was the size of a bean,” she giggled. “I sat in this armchair and spoke to you for the first time. I promised I’d try to be the best mummy to you and sometimes I wish I was better.”
“You’re the best mummy in the world,” Lily said, her small hand touching your face as her thumb softly stroked your cheek. You smiled softly.
“Now, in this same armchair, I promise that he’s not leaving. Your daddy is staying forever and now you have another grandma and grandpa, you have a cousin, aunties, uncles…”
“Do you think they’ll like me?” she mumbled, hazel eyes looking at you like she could see your soul.
“They’ll love you, peanut.”
“I’ll love them too,” she said before a long yawn, blinking a few times as she was clearly starting to fight against her need to sleep. “But I’ll always love you the most, mummy…” Lily mumbled before her eyes finally closed and, after a long sigh, her body finally relaxed in your arms and the usual low, cute snores started.
All the love that your daughter gave you had always been something that overwhelmed you. The way her face lights up when you pick her up at school, how she always wants to show you first the new things she learns, and how she’s always checking on you and making sure you’re happy were a few of the things that made you know for sure that if soulmates were indeed real, Lily was yours. Pride always coursed through your veins whenever she showed an act of kindness, and joy involved your entire being knowing that it had influence of how well you raised her - still, you still couldn’t shake the anguish that made your chest clench whenever you thought about how you prived her from another life the moment you decided to hide her from Mason. That was the feeling that kept you up for hours, rolling from one side to the other in bed, with the desperate need to cry always hovering over you.
After putting on your robe and grabbing the baby monitor, you guided your tired body to the kitchen and, trying not to make too much noise, prepared yourself a cup of chamomile tea hoping it’d save your life. You enjoyed the combination of silence and the sweet hot liquid relaxing your body - the house was quiet, the only sounds being the occasional creak of the floorboards and the soft hum of the refrigerator. Lost in your thoughts, you sat at the kitchen table staring at the half-empty cup, replaying the events of the past weeks over and over in your mind.
You heard soft footsteps and looked up to see Mason entering the kitchen, his face pretty much like yours: etched with worry and exhaustion. He hesitated a bit at the doorway before stepping in, your eyes meeting his.
“Can’t sleep too?” you asked gently, watching him take a seat across from you.
Mason shook his head. “Too much on my mind.”
You nodded, your gaze dropping to the table. Taking a deep breath, you felt your voice trembling as you spoke. “I need to say something.”
Mason looked at you, sensing the weight of your words. “Go ahead, Y/n. I’m listening.”
You wrung your hands, struggling to find the right words. Looking at him again, you felt a knot forming in your throat. “I feel so guilty about keeping Lily away from you. I honestly thought I was doing the right thing at the time, but I realise it was a lot more about protecting myself rather than protecting her. Seeing you with her now… and how happy she is. I feel awful, and I know I was wrong.”
Mason sighed deeply, his emotions a turbulent mix of anger, sadness, and understanding.“I confess that this is like… my worst nightmare. A child from a casual hookup,” he confessed, and you felt tears burning your eyes. “And knowing this child exists five years later did make me angry. I’ve missed so much of her life and there’s so many things involved.”
Tears welled up in his eyes but you watched him wipe them away quickly. “I’m so sorry,” you whispered.
“I can’t just insert myself in her life without thinking about every detail, it’s much deeper because I bring a lot with me to everyone that’s part of my life,” much to your surprise, Mason reached for your hand, and, with your heart skipping a beat, your pinkies intertwined again. “I’m angry and hurt but I’m willing to push that away because I’m the happiest I’ve ever been, at the same time. Lily is incredible, she’s sweet and kind and you’ve been doing a fantastic job. She’s more than I could’ve hoped for, so I’ll fight everyone and everything to keep her safe. To keep you safe too.”
You didn’t wipe the tears that rolled down your cheeks. “I robbed you those first five years and I don’t think I’ll ever be able to forgive myself for that, but I hope you can, for Lily’s sake. She deserves to have both of her parents.”
Mason’s gaze softened as he looked at you. “I need to feel that I can trust you, forgiveness will eventually come, but it’s also not like I hate you,” you watched how his cheeks suddenly blushed. “I think you’re amazing and I often thought about you and always hoped that I could find you someday.”
“Just not under this circumstance, yeah?” you added, and you two shared a laugh that pushed away whatever tension between you.
Mason nodded, letting go of your hair to stand up from his chair and sit on the one beside you. “I’ll take what life is giving me. We’ll figure it out together, Y/n. For her, and us too, he pulled you into a comforting hug as you clung to him, your sobs quieting as you found solace in his arms.
“I’m so grateful you’re here, Mason,” you confessed as he stroked your back soothingly.
“We’re a family now, Y/n. It’s going to be tough but we’ll get through whatever comes our way. As long as we keep Lily safe and give her the love and support she deserves, everything will be fine.”
You remained there in the quiet kitchen, holding onto each other, both knowing that while the road ahead would be challenging, you were committed to facing it together for the sake of your daughter. Holding hands, you walked back to the bedroom hallway in silence, and Mason softly kissed your forehead before heading back to his. You stood there for a few minutes, contemplating how his lips felt so good against your skin, before deciding you’d sleep the few hours left for sunrise with Lily. With her hair splattered over the pillow, she had a smile on her lips as she softly hummed words you couldn’t understand, which stopped when you cuddled her under the duvet and finally closed your eyes, letting sleep relax your body.

Jasper
Pulling into a parking spot in the Hospital’s adjoined parking garage, I let out the breath I’d been holding since dropping Y/n’s mom off at the airport and let my head fall back on the headrest. In the last week I’ve never been more scared, worried, keyed up than I have ever been in my immortal life.
Y/n and Isabella managed to slip past Alice and I at the hotel on some half-assed rescue mission… I promised Edward I’d protect Bella and I didn’t, now she has a broken leg and was almost on her way to turning into one of us. With as much experience as I have in war, keeping an eye on two teenage girls is a challenge? I nearly crush the keys to Carlisle’s car in my hand, the plastic groaning in protest.
I could’ve lost her.
The realization hurts and angers me all at the same time. Not only do I need to watch myself around humans, but I also have a singer, someone I’m falling hopelessly in love with and I feel so-so out of control. I can’t protect her at every twist and turn and it’s eating me alive. She’s human and frail, not meant for my world and yet she’s been sucked into it because of me.
I exit the car and find my way back to Y/n’s room before visitation hours end. My thoughts are a mess until I step in her room and her scent washes over me, scorching - but soothing. Soothing because she’s still here, she’s breathing and her monitor is still beeping.
I take up my post in the chair in the corner even though I know she’d prefer me at her side. From here I can still watch her while I get a grip on my raging emotions and the thirst licking flames down my throat.
She has less wires and tubes today, preparing for discharge in a day or two. After finally waking this morning, she managed to convince her mom she was fine enough to leave her here under Carlisle and I’s watchful eye with the promise to constantly keep her updated. I could feel her mother’s torn emotions - sadness with a twinge of anguish because she had to get back to work, but strangely enough - relief when she assessed me before making her decision to go home. Nevertheless, I reassured her that I would drive her daughter back carefully while using my ability to ease the anxiety that bubbled up.
Y/n’s breathing sped up slightly signaling that she was waking from her nap, so I sat up straight in my chair.
“Jaz?” Her quiet voice croaked out.
“Still here, darlin’. I just dropped your mom off at the airport.” Standing, I quietly roll her bedside table closer that has her cup of water.
“Jasper?” She asks again after a sip.
“Yes, sweetheart?” I respond, pulling my chair closer to the bed while keeping my eyes down.
“Look at me, please?” The soft plea almost tears my heart in two and my eyes snap to her bruised face. “Talk to me?”
“We can talk once you’re discharged-“
“No, this clearly needs to happen now.” So demanding, even lying in a hospital bed.
“You could’ve died-“
“But I didn’t-“
“Don’t even start with that.” My tone comes out a little harsher than I intended and I squeeze my eyes shut as I sit, pushing my hands through my hair as my elbows rest on my knees. “If Alice wasn’t watching, if I didn’t have a clue as to where you and Bella went…” My eyes scan the room for something to focus on, but I settle on her face, “If I was a fraction too slow getting to you, you could be dead - both of you.”
“I knew you’d come for me, Jasper.”
“You don’t get to make decisions like that when I’m supposed to be protecting you, Y/n. You don’t get it.” I stress, grabbing the hand not hooked up to an IV and cradling it in mine. “We’re in a hospital right now and you have broken bones. You were in a coma.” I want to yell my frustration suddenly.
“What don’t I get?” She asks.
“What?”
“You said I don’t get it, what don’t I get?”
“You… you’re everything to me.” I whisper as I run a finger gently down her bruised cheek, the swelling around her eye having gone down slightly.
Reader
I’m not entirely sure I heard him correctly. You’re everything to me. He said it like it was obvious, inevitable, easy.
“You-you can’t mean that.” I glance to my lap and pick at the coarse hospital blanket as my nerves get the better of me.
“Darlin’, I wouldn’t be here worried out of my mind if I didn’t.” His icy fingers tilt my chin up to meet his dark eyes. “You… you test me in every conceivable way and I can’t get enough.”
My throat closes up and I fumble for a response, “Jasper-”
“Don’t do that to me again, don’t run away from me like you can’t ask me for anything. Your safety is paramount and I don’t ever want to feel that helpless again.” His hand cradles the back of my head like it’s the finest piece of glass and my heart is ready to burst.
Just when I feel on the verge of a heart attack from his words, my nurse barges through my door.
“Is everything-“ but she stops short and smiles knowingly at Jasper perched on the edge of my bed, “Try to keep her heart rate down? You had me worried it was something much worse.”
I finally notice the quick beeping of my heart rate monitor and I swear, I could pass away right here from embarrassment. And if that weren’t enough, my nurse winks at Jasper as he replies “Yes ma’am.” with a sneaky grin to her on her way out.
I’m tempted to smack his arm for teasing me, but decide against it since it’s still tender from being sprained.
“You’re worse than my mom.” I grumble, trying to fold my arms while still attached to wires and an IV line.
“Oh sweetheart, don’t go comparing me to your mother.” Smiling to himself, he settles back into his chair as we wait for my evening round of medication.
He’ll be the death of me, my new mantra.

Reader
Discharge papers are signed, I’m dressed in new clothes Alice left for me, and I’m currently being wheeled to the exit by a nurse who adamantly refused to just let me walk out of here on my own. Thankfully Jasper isn’t here to witness this and is instead pulling the car around to the door with an overhang, conveniently providing him cover from the rising desert sun.
The heat is a dry blast to the face once the automatic doors slide open as I’m wheeled to the curb and I’m thankful Alice picked a light sundress. The thoughtfulness in her supernatural ability is just another reason to love her.
My nurse helps me stand as Jasper parks in front of us and jogs to my side. I catch him doing a double take as I turn to thank my nurse and grab the last of my things from her. I feel his eyes roam over me as I climb in the car and sure enough, once I sit and turn to him, I can tell he has thoughts he’s hesitating with.
Gently shutting my door, he returns to the driver’s seat and steers the car through the crowded parking lot.
“You look nice, darlin’.” He says, glancing at me momentarily.
“For someone this banged up?” I’m still sporting a bruise under my eye and a wrap on my injured wrist. My ribs have been protesting all the movement I’ve done since getting out of bed this morning.
“Even banged up you’re still gorgeous.” His compliment is quiet, but the words are echoing in my head and ratcheting my heart rate up yet again.
And I swear I hear him mutter through his teeth as I watch his fingers tighten on the steering wheel, “This is going to be a long car ride.”

Quinn and Jaz: Ch2
Chapter 1
word count: ~2k
_______________________
The street lamps buzzed to life, with some flickers of indignation at being awoken for yet another tedious shift. They waited patiently, as they always did, for one very busy college student- who was particularly late tonight. Just as Quinn turned the corner to enter the sprawling parking lot of her apartment complex, the nearest street lamp gave out, dusting her in the growing shadow of the evening.
Still cursed, then, she half-joked. Quinn’s eyes burned and her nostrils were iced with the sharp pain of the cold winter air. She was lucky enough that her jacket could cover her mouth a bit, if she tugged at it the right way; but it only did so much when the whole back-half of her was totally drenched with ice water. As she finally approached the stairs to her apartment, her mind briefly wandered to the warm lump of a guy in her pocket.
She felt lucky, because she’d been able to not think about it too much for the walk home- the bitter cold helped with that. But she knew that the second she got inside she’d have to address reality; And reality, right now, was that she had an entire person, on her person. Just chilling. She shivered hard at the thought, the anxiety fully overpowering any pre-existing chills.
That feeling from earlier came clawing back, fast. The memory of seeing how her hands dwarfed Jaz, seeing him fit entirely into her glove, how that implied he wouldn’t even be hard for her to hold his entire being in one hand. She felt ill at the implications of it all, and shoved the thoughts away for Quinn-Of-Not-Right-Now to deal with. The walk home had been traumatic enough, even before all of this tiny guy shit happened, she didn’t need to process anything while her body temperature was still below average.
Finally reaching her building and trudging up the stairs to the third story, Quinn fumbled numbly for her keys and shouldered the iced-shut door open with a loud crack! Warmth kissed her cheeks and eyelids, much to her relief. Waddling through the threshold, Quinn hurriedly footed off her ice-filled boots. Not even caring about getting a noise complaint, she slammed the door shut and let both bookbags fall heavily to the floor where she stood.
Numb fingers tried desperately to claw the zipper of her coat open, but failed to get a proper hold on the slick metal tab, wet with snow. She briefly gave up on the tab, opting to undo her old leather belt and tug off her oversized, worn jeans, down to her long underwear. Fingering off her sopping socks and leaving the shedded articles at the entryway, Quinn shuffled the couple of feet to her kitchen and started her electric kettle. Running the tap hot at her sink, she held her hands in the water for some time until it was painful from the heat, reluctantly withdrawing from the temporary comfort.
With now-dried hands, she shakily pinched at the zipper near her chapped lips. A long, fluttering breath entered and slowly exited her lungs- she had to mentally prepare. Maybe the cold actually had gotten to her, and she was truly losing it from exhaustion. In a way, she hoped that was the case, because then she could just sleep it off and go back to normal.
Oh please, respect yourself, Quinn, she internally chided, The ID, the bag, you literally have that shit defrosting 3 feet away from you. Be a big girl and get this over with.
Quinn laughed in spite of herself at that.
With a sturdy, deep breath, she unzipped the coat and hastily tugged out the glove into the air in front of her face. A muffled Holy- Watch it!! from the contents told her that her passenger was not only real, but also had survived the oh-so-perilous journey. Slightly guilty at the jostling, but mostly cold and annoyed, she laid the glove down on the counter as gently as she could manage.
The kettle gave a shy click to show it had done its job, and Quinn happily accepted a distraction for her hands. She readied two mugs; A pretty yellow flowered mug equipped with her favorite sleepy-time tea, and then the second mug- a wide, plain, chipped old thing that she set next to the glove, full of nothing but the hot water.
“Oh, and these might be helpful…” She thought aloud, getting two fluffy dish towels from one of the drawers below. Quinn dropped them quickly next to the glove and mugs.
“So, uh,” She started speaking to the air above the set up, not exactly sure how to interact with some guy she just taxi’d into her home, “I’m gonna go take a shower- and uh, warm up- whatever. I’m leaving for 15 minutes. You have 15 minutes to get yourself into a better state, and also to not be naked.” Wait, is that possible? her face twisted, and she started making hand gestures to no one in particular. “Just make sure you’re not… exposed… when I come back to talk, in fifteen. Eugh. Whatever, bye.”
Throwing her hands up and taking a deep, shaky breath, she spun around and eagerly shed the rest of her clothes on the way to her shower. If hypothermia doesn’t get me, cringe certainly fucking will. My god.
—--
Jaz’s head had never hurt so bad in his entire life- which was actually quite impressive, considering how many hangovers he’d dealt with. Jaz ranked this headache particularly high on his list of awful headaches not just because of the splitting pain between his ears. This headache had come with one tiny side effect, and it was bothering him to no end.
The constant friction of the too-thick fabric rubbing his bare body was getting to be overwhelming, and going from truly freezing temperatures to a sweltering, inescapable heat was nauseating. I might actually need to buy this bitch new gloves, that’s hilarious. Whatever, she needs a new set anyway, this brand sucks. Commenting on Quinn’s gloves was all Jaz could do to distract himself. He might have been able to lie to himself and say this was all some twisted nightmare if not for how sickeningly real it all was.
The night prior was a blur. All he knew is that he had a few shots, slept with a few girls and had a good time, like any other night. Like normal. He woke up in one of the girls’ beds around dinnertime and was kicked out before he could even ask what they were cooking.
They were embarrassed they couldn’t cook for shit. Yeah. I would have just ordered us all whatever if they didn’t go all psycho, kicking me out. Jaz absent-mindedly ran his hands slowly up and down his arms, and shut his eyes. He focused on his breathing, and tried not to feel the heat emanating from the wall beside him. Those bitches just didn’t know I would have covered everything- gotten maids for the cleanup, had my secretary manage any absences. Damn, I should have started the night with that- ‘Everything’s on me tonight!’ Then I wouldn’t be in this fucking mess.
Between jabs at the group of girls he had partied with, the thoughts of how unendingly vast the world felt from his nest of clothes silently fogged into his head. Flashes of seeing his fingers poke through the stitches of his own scarf, at just the amount of time it took to get a full view of Quinn. Bubbling visuals of the hole in the toe of her boot, only a couple yards from him at the time- big enough for him to walk into, with clearance. The way her shins trailed into her knees, peaking at the height of small buildings. He thought of her face; blurry and dulled, like a billboard you’re just too far away from to make out the smallest lettering.
He very nearly retched at the thought of it all. He didn’t even realize his fingernails were leaving raw, throbbing circles now, swirling across his biceps. A sharp, thin whine loosed itself from somewhere outside, and all of a sudden Jaz didn’t have time to worry about retching, he may just start blowing chunks right then and there.
The only way he could describe the feeling was like that of the world’s least fun rollercoaster- something close to the Tower of Terror, but in reverse. His insides lagged behind whatever unnatural force was yanking him into the air.
“Holy- WATCH IT!!” He spat, hoping desperately he could be heard through the polyester and fleece. A pause told him he was heard, and he gladly accepted the much slower descent to a floor.
Damn, who the hell let this roid-rager out around normal people? Doesn’t she know that I’m literally-
Jaz suddenly became quite aware of how deeply his nails could go into his arms. He flinched and loosed his grip on himself, seeing pinpricks of blood on a few of the impressions his fingernails had left behind. Outside the tent of a glove, Quinn was somewhere far off giving a long spiel about showering or something.
Showering… ‘something something naked’... Damn, is now really the time for this? Jaz was exhausted, he felt he had enough of women for the next few days. Preparing his usual script, he emerged to politely shoot her down and give her a proper rejection. Quinn, however, had scurried away. Out of sight, to some distant closet all the way on the other side of the kitchen.
Jaz felt strangely about such a massive woman truly scurrying, the way Quinn just had. Maybe she’s not as godzilla as previously thought. But looking around, he had a lot more than that to feel unsettled by than just the girl who uber’d him.
Everything. All of it was huge.
This apartment was a stadium to Jaz- no, even bigger. A colosseum, made of plywood and layers and layers of landlord-special paint. There was so much to take in- the mural-sized art pieces on the miles-away walls, the countertop longer than a nascar track, the floor, all the way down there. That nauseous feeling came clawing back, pinching Jaz’s throat and behind his nose and cramping his stomach.
He had to look away.
Turning eagerly to look at what was right in front of him, he found a steaming ceramic tub was waiting patiently with two thick towels, the size of tennis courts, flung to either side.
The realization of Quinn’s actual intention now finally dawned on him, “Oh, shower.”
Eager to get out of the stuffy tent-glove, Jaz kicked his way free of the damp, beaded, fleece lining. A cold chill hit him, and he was forced to remember why he was in that glove to begin with.
Jaz had never been shy about his birthday suit- he worked very hard for his toned and fit physique, and was known to half the campus to jump at any chance to put it on display.
In that moment, though- standing on a countertop, the nearest “floor” being a hundred foot plummet away, and the closest exit truly impossible for him to access or use…
Jaz felt naked. He felt utterly exposed.
It was a new, supremely unpleasant feeling. His hands went back to his biceps, and he quickly recoiled at the sting. His eyes flitted to the scratches and his gaze lingered. Ever so slightly, his shoulders rose and tensed, an almost unnoticeable flicker of weakness breathed through his knees.
Fuck it, I can clean up if I’m staying the night. Jaz clambered into the mug, steeling himself. He silently begged the near scalding water to burn out the unpleasantness- trying to find a distraction in this new sting.
A nebulous sort of respite tentatively descended upon him.
“Besides, I haven’t even really introduced myself.”

Pairing - Mason Mount x Reader
Word count - 2.6k
Warnings - fluff
Mason was home earlier than usual and you heard the door slam as he rushed inside. Not even stopping to come in to see you before he ran up the stairs, shouting in hopes you’d be able to hear him from wherever you might be.
‘I’ll be ten minutes baby, make sure you’re ready!’
You were ready, and had been for the last 15 minutes as you knew Mason would want to be out the door as quickly as he came in. Today was a day he’d been waiting months for, finally able to meet his new baby niece. You were just as excited yourself to meet the newest member of the family but between Masons games and wanting Jaz and Sam to get settled and not overwhelm them with too many people, the baby was around five days old now and Mason was chomping at the bit to see her.
You made your way out to his car, popping open the boot and placing the presents inside before walking back inside to find Mason flying down the stairs, all dressed up and ready to go.
‘You ready?’ He questioned, surprisingly out of breath and you chuckled at his eagerness as he kissed your cheek.
‘Yes baby, everything’s in the car and ready to go. Just need to get your pretty butt behind the wheel’ you teased, patting it playfully and he scrunched his face up at you whilst ushering you out the door.
‘Don’t call my butt pretty’
‘What can I call it then? Juicy? Voluptuous? Biteable?’ You listed off as he held your door open for you, kissing his cheek as you sat down.
‘Excuse me. I’m feeling a bit exploited here’ he huffed, getting in the car and strapping himself in. You both looked at each other with a smile and you winked at him, knowing full well he was enjoying your compliments.
He set off, drumming his fingers on the wheel as an excited smile dressed his face his face the whole way. The pair of you spoke lightly but as you got closer you could tell he was getting restless and when you were finally parked up he was out of the car before you’d even had time to unbuckle your seatbelt.
You met him at the front of the car after he’d grabbed the gifts and hurried to the door, knocking on it quietly as you figured the little one would be sleeping. Sam was quick to answer and after a few hugs were shared, he led you into the living room where you saw Jaz leaning over a tiny white Moses basket. She turned to you when she heard the both of you enter, pulling you both into a hug.
‘How are you feeling?’ You asked and she nodded at you with a sleepy smile.
‘I’ve been better’ she laughed ‘you ready to meet her?’ She smiled at the both of you as you nodded excitedly. She moved to the side and pushed Masons shoulder gently to guide him over to where she was, and he grabbed your hand tightly to pull you along.
You both let out a quiet gasp as you caught sight of the tiny girl who was sound asleep and breathing softly. She was perfect and you could feel your eyes stinging the longer you looked at her.
‘You wanna hold her?’ You heard Jaz whisper and you both looked at Mason who was staring down at her with wide loving eyes. His head shot up, nodding furiously and you dragged him over to the sofa so he could get comfortable for Jaz to place her in his arms. She wriggled around a little bit as she settled, but soon enough she was peacefully snoozing away in her uncles arms. ‘I’ll grab you guys a drink’ she whispered before leaving the pair of you alone with her.
You both sat admiring her in silence for a moment before your eyes flicked up to look at Mason who was looking down at her like his heart might burst from his chest. His glossy eyes flickered to yours and you shared a small smile before he looked back down.
‘Hi baby’ his whispered ‘I’m you’re uncle Mase’ he told her, gently brushing her cheek with his thumb. You felt like crying yourself at the sight of them both, having never seen him like this before. When the pair of you met, Summer was a little bit over one and almost walking so you’d never seen him with a tiny baby and the sight was making your heart hammer. He was so gentle and you could feel the love pouring out of him. ‘And this pretty lady here, that’s your auntie y/n’ he mumbled quietly and you chuckled at him as he spoke to her.
‘She’s so perfect’ you whispered, reaching out to stroke her tiny hand as he gave her a gentle kiss on her forehead. You rested your head on Masons shoulder so you could both admire her, getting lost in your own little world as you watched her sleep. You weren’t sure how long you’d been sat there but Jaz and Sam quietly padded in with cups of tea after a little while.
‘You still hogging her, Mase’ Jaz laughed and he looked up at you with a shy smile.
‘Sorry baby, you want a hold?’ He asked and you nodded frantically causing him to laugh before gently transferring her into your arms. She was so little and fragile but you felt your heart warm as she settled down again.
‘Sorry baby, I bet you’re fed up of being passed from pillar to post’ you whispered and Mason chuckled as he wrapped his arm around your waist and pulled the both of you into him.
‘Mase? Where your phone? I’ll take a picture of you three’ Jaz offered. And he grabbed it from his pocket to pass it to her. ‘Say cheese’ she smiled and you both laughed as she took a few shots of all of you. ‘Ahh you all look so cute’ she laughed, sitting back down and grabbing her tea.
‘She’s so lovely, guys. Congratulations’ you smiled and Mason nodded alongside you in agreement.
‘Where’s Summer?’ Mason asked, and you smiled at him asking after her, missing his little best friend already.
‘Mum took her out with lew and Tony, thought it would be nice to give you two a little alone time with her before Summer is all over you’ she laughed but let out a yawn at the end.
‘You both look exhausted, why don’t you go take a nap or something before they get back? Me and y/n can watch her’ Mason told Jaz and but she shook her head gently.
‘No Mase, it’s fine. I’d feel rude’
‘Don’t be silly, we’re here to help’ you smiled and she looked over at Sam with questioning eyes.
‘Plus, we could use the practice’ Mason joked and you could feel your face heat at up what he might be hinting at.
‘I suppose a little half hour wouldn’t hurt’ she told him and before long they’d made their way upstairs for a nap. You looked over to him with wide eyes and he winked at you before kissing your cheek.
Mason took a few pictures of just you with the baby, before you passed her back to him so he could have some alone too and if you thought you were in love with him before, this was a whole different story. Your heard was thundering inside your chest at the sight of him with the tiny baby. Thoughts filling your head of Mason holding your own baby one day and already knowing he would make an amazing father.
You’d just popped to the loo, and when you were walking back you could hear his gentle voice, thinking maybe Jaz and Sam were back downstairs but when you reached the doorway you saw he was still alone with the baby. He’d walked over to the patio doors and was was rocking her gently as he spoke, only barely being able to hear what he was saying but what you could pick up on made your knees weak.
‘And when you’re old enough, I’ll bring you to the bridge and you can watch me play. I’ll make sure I score a goal for you too like I did for auntie y/n the first time she came’ he murmured and you smiled the at memory of your first trip to the bridge. ‘Speaking of auntie y/n, you’re gonna love her so much, just like I do. And we’ll make sure you’ve got loads of cousins to play with’
You let out a little chuckle at this and he turned to look at you with an embarrassed smile before laughing himself. He beckoned you over with his head and you gently walked over to see she was now wide awake in his arms, her eyes flickering over to to you and you smiled brightly at her.
‘Hello sweetheart’ you laughed, gently stroking her head and she nuzzled back down into Masons arms.
‘Hey, you’re gonna send her back to sleep’ he laughed ‘I know how it feels when you give me head scratches, I pass out instantly so I can only image how she feels’ he joked before leaning down and kissing you softly as you rolled your eyes.
‘Did you mean what you said just now? About giving her lots of cousins?’ You asked as you both settled back down on the sofa. She was so calm just looking up at you both before shutting her eyes again and opening them a few moments later and you were both falling more and more in love with her with each passing second.
‘Of course’ he smiled. ‘I can’t wait to have our own kids one day’ he told you delicately and you almost melted under his stare. ‘Can’t you see it? A whole army of mini versions of us running about the place, causing havoc’ he teased and you willed the tears to stay in your eyes as he told you about the future he saw for you both.
You both were interrupted by a knock at the door and you rushed to let Masons parents, Summer and Lewis in. Debbie managed to wake Jaz and Sam up from their nap and you were soon all congregated in the living room, the baby now in your arms as Mason sat and the floor with Summer so she could tell him where she’d been.
‘Oh Jaz, there’s some presents in the corner’ Mason told her whilst helping Summer to stand. ‘Why don’t you go and get them and take them over to mummy?’ He asked her and she was quick to run off and pull them over. You and Mason had decided to make her a little box up with a teddy, a blanket, some little booties and any other bits you thought looked cute. You then noticed a little white paper bag next to the box and you looked at Mason confused as you didn’t recognise it but he just winked at you.
Jaz opened it up to reveal a cute Chelsea baby vest with a little frilly skirt attached that Mason must of ordered. Jaz held it up laughing and when she turned it round to show you the back, her name was printed on it with the number 23 causing you all to giggle.
You could feel the baby getting restless so you passed her back to Jaz who claimed it was almost her dinner time so she took her off to sort her out. Whilst jaz was feeding her, you helped Debbie in the kitchen prepare dinner for everyone which you all ate in front of the tv and when you were all finished, you and Mason stacked everything in the dishwasher however it took longer than it should since he couldn’t seem to keep his hands or his lips off of you.
You could tell Summer was feeling a little left out as everyone was fussing over the new baby, so you beckoned her over and sat her in your lap whilst you had a chat and played a few games on your phone with her until she was barely awake in your arms. You looked up to see Mason walking back towards you, a loving smile on his face as he sat besides you and pulled you into a heavy kiss. When you pulled away, you almost lost your breath at the way he was looking at you before he wrapped his arms around you and Summer and pulled you into him. You felt so safe and warm with him whilst Summer struggled to keep her eyes open on top of you.
You were soon on the way home, not wanting to over crowd Jaz and Sam too long and you spent the drive in a comfortable silence with Masons hand placed firmly on your thigh and once home, he met you in the kitchen where you were perched at the island with your face in your phone.
‘What you looking at?’ He asked, resting his chin on your shoulder and he immediately caught sight of the picture of the pair of you sat on Jaz’s sofa with the baby in your arms. ‘We look good as a three’ he joked and you laughed as you set the phone down, standing up so you could wrap your arms around his neck as his hands made their way around your waist. You both were looking at each other adoringly and he quickly dipped his head to place a soft kiss on your lips.
‘I love you so much’ he whispered against your lips and you chuckled lightly as you held each other tighter.
‘I love you, too. So so much’
‘I hope I didn’t scare you too much today? You know with all the baby talk?’ He told you quietly but you looked at him confused.
‘Of course not Mase, why would you think that?’
‘I don’t know’ he chuckled, but the comforting feel of your fingers against the back of his head made him carry on. ‘I just love seeing you with my family. You’re a natural with Summer and seeing you with the baby today just made me think about us having our own little one soon’ he told you and he seemed almost timid as he spoke, but you wanted him to carry on so you sent him a small smile to let him know it was okay. ‘I haven’t been able to stop thinking about a family with you for months. Is that something you would want?’
You were finding it hard to speak, too overcome with emotion so you just nodded at him, tilting your head up so he would kiss you. It was slow and soft, and your whole body shivered as you felt his thumbs stroking up and down your back. You pulled back for air and he bumped his nose against you before he rested his forehead on yours, both of you unable to wipe the smiles off your faces.
‘How about, we don’t try, per say. But if it happens then it happens?’ You told him with a slight shrug and his whole face lit up.
‘Yeah?’
‘Yeah, I loved seeing you with her today. You were so good and I know you’d make the best dad. Like there’s no one else I’d want to do this with’
‘Me too’ he breathed before kissing you again, this time a little deeper. ‘How about we go upstairs and not try to make a baby’ he told you seductively and you let out a laugh as he led you by the hand up to your room.

Hi Jaz! I’m picking up my first ever puppy (not first dog; he’s a 9wo Poodle) on Sunday and I am losing my mind preparing and planning. Like I have ideas and goals but don’t want to overwhelm him but also want to start socializing and training as soon as I can. What do you do the first day/week with your puppies to best set them up?
While it's good to have a plan, I think the best thing you can do for your new puppy is remember that he is a puppy! He's just a baby, there's no rush at all. I have been deliberately taking things slow with Fenris and he continues to amaze me with his progress.
Honestly with Fenris the things I focused on were;
1: training basics. Not positions or anything but teaching him what the clicker means, how to interact with food in an active and positive manner, toy skills, following food for the lure, offering behaviors for good, that it's okay to guess and even be wrong sometimes, how to interact with training tools like wobble boards and paw targets, things like that. I really didn't name anything except
2: RECALL. Emergency recall, casual recall, recall and release, holy God teach your dog to come back to you asap and reward the shit out of that behavior every time
3: trades for outs. I didn't name it, I never punished for picking up forbidden objects unless they were uniquely dangerous like a dropped knife, but the concept of "spit that out and I will give you a thing" was introduced the second he picked something up in my house.
4: leash skills on walks
5: exposure, socialization, and existing in public. Fenris already was a pretty strong puppy in his environmentals but I've had plenty of dogs that needed lots and lots of help with this and I think it's a good idea even if your puppy is already pretty okay with this because it will help you get through whatever fear period you get much faster. We went everywhere and interacted with everything that's dog friendly (within limits- high risk areas we skipped like the dog park, and we avoided high dog traffic places until he was fully vaccinated, so we went into fabric stores instead of pet stores etc). I really like sitting outside of grocery stores and going to public parks and playgrounds for this because your puppy will see a lot of diversity in human behavior this way and will learn that we're a bunch of mostly harmless bald apes instead of The Most Dangerous Demon Ever. I also have my dog touch, sniff, or otherwise interact with various objects- again playgrounds are great for this because there's a variety of surfaces and movements to show them that it's really find and the trash can is not a diabolical monster out to gobble you up.

You Read? Part 3
- Mason mount x Reader
summary: After bumping into mason at the club he invites you to his daughters birthday party.During the party you find yourself getting closer to mason…more attached to him.
Warnings: Fluff,Swearing,Mentions of deadbeat mom.
paring: single dad-mason “Mason mount” x female!Reader
Despite the relentless sleep from last night you still found the energy to actually get up from bed. The lack of sleep was due to Staying up so late because you got back from the club late. Also the constant thought of Mason.
The constant thought of what you were gonna wear to the birthday party. With all that thinking you needed to hurry up and go to a toy store and pick up something a 5 year old girl would like.
A barbie? Oo a colouring book the hangover from all the drinks were not helping. You figured you’d buy a barbie and a couple of other toys she might like mostly were based off what you thought what a five year old would like.
Now all that was left was wrap the gift write a nice card find a decent outfit to wear and head off to mason that’s should be easy.
________________
You were so anxious for that birthday party that you spilled blazing hot coffee over your outfit making you change also making you late. With all that hassle over and done with the only thing that was left was getting there you put mason address in and surprisingly he didn’t live too far away.
As you approached mason house you took a good look at your surroundings it was big looked cozy and alot of cars parked in the driveway meant there was a lot of people here aswell. You could hear the birthday party music coming from the backyard And the talking of a lot of people that’s probably what made your heart sped up even more
As you waited for someone to open the door you gave it a couple of minutes and then the door had opened. When the door opened it wasn’t mason. A woman she looked like she was in her Thirties. She almost had the same features as mason her hair was shoulder length.
________________
“Hi i’m here for the birthday party…” You said there was little bit anxiousness to your tone,“Oh are you a friend?’’ The woman responded looking quite curious to know who you were.
“Oh yeah i’m Mason friend! I hope i didn’t come too late you know!” you said waiting for her to let you in “Oh! come on in i’m jasmin mason sister you can just call me Jaz i don’t mind” she said while stepping out the way to let you in.
“everyone’s in the back garden you can drop the gift of to the gift table and join everyone” she respond leading me to the back garden she had this bright smile planted on her face.
So you did as she said and dropped the gift of and looked around you figured you were kinda on your own for this one since you didn’t know anyone.
you kinda just stood there. In hopes to say happy birthday and then drop the gift off and call it day. As your eyes wonder you saw Masiey with a couple of kids in the bouncy house.
________________
As you were turned around you felt a tap on your shoulder and turning around it was mason finally it was someone you actually knew.
“I thought you got stuck in traffic or you were mad that i spoiled the book” Mason said with a slight chuckles in his voice. “oh i am mad about the book but i wouldn’t miss out on her birthday” turning to him with a slight smile planted on your face.
“i’m glad you made it’’ he said he had a genuine smile on his face it wasn’t the cheeky one or the slight smile. “urm…Anyways we’re gonna cut the cake soon so help yourself to anything really.” He said scratching the back of his head after that he kinda left to greet more guest.
_____________
It had been now couple of hours the cake was now cut you talked to a few other people. You had also talked to maisey wishing her a happy birthday before she ran off to go play some more.
you decided you’d lounge in the living room. There was no one in the living room it was fairly dim in the room. You scrolled on your phone for a couple of minutes until you heard the door open.
You saw Mason step in with a drink in his hand a smile planted on his face as he sat down maybe a inch away from you on the couch.
“didn’t know anyone was in here” he said taking another sip of drink. “Came in here for some quietness still have a banging headache from clubbing.” You said fiddling with your fingers
“Hangovers are a piss take honesty” there was a slight chuckle to his voice. “tell me about it” you said.
“Hope i didn’t interrupt unless you wanna be alone?” he said looking at you. “nah it’s fine could use some company i guess” You said locking eyes with him.
“Then i’ll gladly stay pretty lady” he said taking another swing from whatever he was drinking
“you know it surprised me when you said you read” You said breaking the silence. “really why?” he said turning his head slightly “i don’t know…you just look like someone who dosent read.” You say to him
“never judge a book by its cover” he said while as he laughed. “what made you get into reading anyways?” you asked him “oh..it was something i started doing when i was going through a breakup…kinda took my mind off things you know” he said while putting the glass down.
“oh i’m sorry” turning to him with a apologetic look written on your face “Not your fault..you didn’t know.” He said while shaking his head.
“Maisey a good kid.” you said a small smile on your face trying to lighten up the mood. “I did pretty well then with raising her…it was kinda hard with the whole breakup she’s a tough kid for her age..”
“If you don’t mind…what happened with your ex” relaxing into the couch some more “Long story…it was just a unpleasant break up..maisey mum didn’t wanna be involved but maisey would’ve done fine with her or without her..”
“Your a good dad mason..” locking eyes with him as he locked his eyes into yours.
_____________
After you and mason talked you guys talked for a good hour straight just opening up to each other you didn’t really know him as well but now you did.
As you put your jacket on walking to front door we’re mason was also trailing behind.
“You know i enjoyed talking to you” he says while smiling at you “Same here” You said returning the smile.
“Well…i just wanted to ask you something-’’
he said before getting cut of by masiey who was heading upstairs “My daddy said he wants to take you on a date Say Yes! pleaseeee!” Maisey said with a cheeky smile on her face.
Mason stood there awkwardly a faint redness on his cheek as he scratched the back of his head when he was in a awkward situation.
“So…What do you say next week Thursday?” He said he looked like he was shy how cute you thought.
“you know what…I’m free so that’s a yes..” Smiling at him.
“So it’s date..well lunch whatever you want to call it..”
“Yay! Daddy has a date!!!” maisey said while running up stairs.
